Hello, I’m Karen … I joined Membership Consultants (now Gabriel Group) in 2007. My background is in media relations and marketing, thus ensuring that my English degree from Webster University was put to fairly good use. Additionally, event management and volunteerism are a healthy part of my mix, which has been quite useful in my role of on-site sales manager. In addition to account management, I am also a list broker, which allows me to develop list strategy for all our clients’ acquisition campaigns.
When I am not in the office, I enjoy reading, cooking, movies and hiking with friends and family. However, laughing with friends and family is my most favorite thing to do – maybe, with a glass of wine.
My first job was political: my friends and I were recruited to go door-to-door canvassing for local politicians – an interesting experience for 12-year-old kids, and one which I soon learned does not pay very well – $30 for an entire summer! I followed that experience with four years in a doughnut shop, where I learned the secret to successfully getting the jelly inside the doughnut.
As a child, I wanted to grow up to be a veterinarian until I realized that in order to help, I might have to inflict pain on some creature. Nope, not me, no way … did I mention I like to read?
